Cancer Fundraiser

SHEAR ART SALON & SPA HOLDS SPECIAL FUNDRAISER FOR
ONE OF THEIR OWN
Viva la Cure
Sunday Nov. 9, noon to 6 p.m.

TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 31, 2008) — The hair stylists, estheticians, nail technicians and other professionals at Shear Art Salon & Spa are donating their services and their time on Sunday Nov. 9 to raise funds for one of their own, Tina McIntosh.

Viva la Cure will be held from noon to 6 on Sunday Nov. 9 at Shear Art Salon & Spa, 13110 N. Dale Mabry Highway.

McIntosh, a hair stylist and hair extension and hair replacement specialist, has been treated for breast cancer and expected to return to work after Thanksgiving. Last week, she learned that the cancer is more aggressive than originally thought and she faces another round of treatment that will keep her out of work until at least Feb. McIntosh is married and has two young boys.

"This is already emotionally devastating," said Terri Thomas, a stylist and colleague at Shear Art. “She could be out of work for six months, which is financially devastating as well.”

The staff decided to hold a cut-a-thon to help McIntosh and her family as they have done to raise money for charity in the past. Shear Art is offering half-price on all services -- hair cuts, colors, highlights, manicures, pedicures, facials, and massage. The staff and the salon will donate all of the proceeds for that day, including sales from select retail products. In addition the staff volunteered to donate $1 per guest ticket for the entire week, starting Nov. 3.
